Offering more choice for patients in Lambeth

In October 2013 the Prime Minister announced a new £50 million Challenge Fund to help improve access to general practice across the UK and stimulate innovative ways of providing primary care services.

PinThe first wave of 20 pilots was announced in 2014 and another £100 million in funding was announced in September 2014 for a second wave.

The Lambeth GP Federations is made up of South East Lambeth Federation, North Lambeth Federation and South West Lambeth Federation, but it is a collaboration involved all 47 GP practices in Lambeth. It now serves the 378,000 patients registered with Lambeth GPs as well as those who are currently unregistered.

Lambeth GP Federations was awarded £3.5 million during that second wave of Challenge Fund allocation and the Lambeth CCG committed a further £1.5 million to the initiative. This enabled the Lambeth GP Federations to pilot a patient access scheme, offering primary care 7 days a week for the Lambeth community across GP Access Hubs, detailed on this site.
